Show Dates: August 7 through September 30
New Dominion is pleased to spotlight the art of Cat Denby, whose work will be on display up on the mezzanine for the months of August and September. Stay tuned for more information about how you can view Cat’s show.
Cat Denby is an internationally recognized, award-winning artist and pet portraitist. She began studying fine art in 2009 and taught herself to draw in graphite and pastel. Her popularity with pet owners and art lovers quickly grew, and demand for commissioned portraits and donated work inspired her to officially embark upon a career creating art for animal lovers worldwide.
Cat has served as an advisory board member on the Art Guild of Greene and a Palette Art Gallery artist since 2015. In addition to the over 300 portraits she has created for fine art and animal lovers internationally, Cat has won awards for her portraits and shown her original work in galleries, veterinary offices, art shows, and private venues throughout Virginia. She is a member of American Women Artists and the Portrait Society of America.
What drives Cat is a belief that art should be accessible to all people, both those who create it and those who admire it. Her work reflects a tireless effort to balance realism and impressionism in the study of portraiture while unmistakably capturing the unique personality of the individual. She enjoys finding the right combination of fully realized details and loose strokes on raw paper. She is proud to be the portraitist for several champion Crufts and Westminster canines, but her true source of pride lies in the portraits she has drawn to help rescue pets find fur-ever homes.
