Join us as we celebrate the release of Micheline Aharonian Marcom’s new novel, The New American, and Kiki Petrosino’s new poetry collection, White Blood. Book sales and a signing will follow. This event will be free and open to the public.
Micheline Aharonian Marcom has published seven novels, including a trilogy of books about the Armenian genocide and its aftermath in the twentieth century. Her latest novel, The New American, is about a DREAMer who is deported to Guatemala and makes his way back home to California. Marcom is the founder and creative director of The New American Story Project [NASP], a living archive of voices exploring the forces of migration and the lives of new Americans. She is currently a professor of creative writing at the University of Virginia.
Kiki Petrosino is the author of four books of poetry: White Blood: a Lyric of Virginia (2020), Witch Wife (2017), Hymn for the Black Terrific (2013) and Fort Red Border (2009), all from Sarabande Books. She holds graduate degrees from the University of Chicago and the University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop. She teaches at the University of Virginia as a professor of poetry. Petrosino is the recipient of a Pushcart Prize, a fellowship in creative writing from the National Endowment for the Arts, and an Al Smith Fellowship Award from the Kentucky Arts Council.
