Carol Troxell Reader Imani Perry

Friday, March 18 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm

The 2022 Carol Troxell reader, Imani Perry, will read from her new book, South to America.

This in-person event is a part of the 2022 Virginia Festival of the Book. Please note that this event will take place off-site at the Central JMRL Library (201 E Market St).

The 2022 Carol Troxell reader, Imani Perry, will read from her new book, South to America. An Alabama native, Imani Perry returns to the region of her upbringing in this book, crafting a narrative of the real people and places that make up what we abstractly consider the South, ultimately revealing the deep-seated truths and definitions they hold of America’s past and present. The Carol Troxell Reader honors the memory of Carol Troxell, thirty-year owner of New Dominion Bookshop, by celebrating voracious reading. Each year, the Festival selects one author to be featured.

As part of the 2022 Virginia Festival of the Book, this in-person event is free to attend and open to the public. In response to Covid-19, many venues have limited capacity. Early arrival is strongly encouraged. For more information about the specific Covid-19 guidelines for this venue, visit vabook.org.
