The descendant of southern planters, Mary Anna Dunn combines original poetry with primary materials to face up to the harsh reality of slavery in her family history. In Letters to Littles’ Mills, Dunn unflinchingly imagines the lives of the people her ancestors enslaved as she weaves together original poetry with antebellum and Civil War era spirituals and letters. 50% of any profits she receives will be donated to programs that improve the lives of people impacted by the lasting legacy of slavery.

"Dunn’s brilliant sense for sound and rhythm will take you, on every line, through every word, into thought and reflection."
