Join us for a reading with novelist Caroline Preston, author of The War Bride’s Scrapbook. This event will be free and open to the public.
The War Bride’s Scrapbook is a World War II love story, narrated through a new bride’s dazzling array of vintage postcards, newspaper clippings, and photographs. In her second scrapbook novel after the lauded Scrapbook of Frankie Pratt, Preston has once again drawn from her own extensive collection of vintage memorabilia. She will discuss her research on women’s homefront activities in Charlottesville during WWII.
Caroline Preston is the author of three previous novels, Jackie by Josie (a New York Times Notable Book), Lucy Crocker 2.0, and Gatsby’s Girl, and her first scrapbook novel, The Scrapbook of Frankie Pratt. She has collected antique scrapbooks since she was in high school, and has worked as an archivist at the Peabody/ Essex Museum and Harvard University. She and her husband, the writer Christopher Tilghman, live in Charlottesville, Virginia.
