Join us for First Fridays as we celebrate the art of the e salon watercolorists, whose work will be on display up on the mezzanine for the months of February and March. This event will be free and open to the public.
Artists’ Statement: We are a group of artists who benefited greatly from the instruction of Eloise Gardiner Giles, an award-winning watercolorist. We called ourselves the e salon. Tragically, in her ninety-eighth year, Eloise was killed in an automobile accident. She was painting and teaching right up to the end. For almost twenty years, under her tutelage, we went from novices to accomplished artists who were accepted in juried shows and often won awards! Eloise encouraged us to be creative with watercolor and other water-soluble mediums. To honor her, we consider it a privilege to share some of our paintings with you in this exhibition at New Dominion Bookshop.
