The Declaration—or as the kids refer to us, the Dec—is a biweekly, tabloid-format student newsmagazine published at the University of Virginia. Founded in 1973, and passing through the hot little hands of many an editorial staff in the years since then, the Dec is devoted to cultural critique by way of movie and album reviews, tracts of creative fiction and non-fiction, political analysis, and the occasional harangue. Our writing varies from hard news to soft satire and everything in between.
Friday Night Writes is a new monthly reading series, held on the first Friday of the month, for young adults in the Charlottesville area.
