An audience Q&A will follow. This in-person event will be cosponsored by WriterHouse and will be free and open to the public. We recommend arriving early for the best seating.
Mary Alice Hostetter is the author of Plain: A Memoir of Mennonite Girlhood. She has had work published in The New York Times (Modern Love column), The Gettysburg Review, Appalachian Review, and HuffPost, among others. There’s No Way to Know is her debut work of fiction. She lives and writes in Charlottesville, Virginia.
BettyJoyce Nash was a potter in Chicago until 1988, when she earned an MS from Northwestern University’s Medill Journalism School. She moved to North Carolina and reported daily news; later, she wrote economics articles for the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond and joined the Charlottesville Writing Center, even while living in Richmond. She moved to Charlottesville in 2013, where she became more involved with the organization we now know as WriterHouse. About her craft, BettyJoyce writes: Writing, like throwing pots, blends art and craft. It takes time, dedication, and patience. Happily, early manuscript drafts, like clay vessels, are always messy. That’s when the fun starts.
