Jocelyn Nicole Johnson (My Monticello) will discuss her debut book, a collection of short stories and the eponymous novella, exploring burdened inheritances and extraordinary pursuits of belonging. United by Johnson’s characters’ relentless struggles against reality and fate, My Monticello is a formidable book that bears witness to this country’s legacies. Jocelyn Nicole Johnson will be in conversation with Lisa Woolfork.
As part of the 2022 Virginia Festival of the Book, this in-person event is free to attend and open to the public. In response to Covid-19, many venues have limited capacity. Shop local and support your community bookstore! You can order your books ahead of time for the 2022 Virginia Festival of the Book by filling out the contact form below. Please make sure that you list the book title(s) that you would like to order. We will give you a call when your order is ready. If you are placing a pre-order for a book that has not yet been released, your book will be ready on or soon after the book’s release date. There is no need to pre-pay. We will collect your payment when you pick up your order or when your order is shipped. Books will also be for sale on-site at the event. (There is no need to place an order if you plan to attend the event and purchase books there in person.)
