Carol Troxell Reader

Friday, March 22 from 4:00pm to 5:30pm

The sixth annual Carol Troxell Reader, Dwight Garner, will speak about his new memoir.

This in-person event is a part of the 2024 Virginia Festival of the Book and will take place at the shop.

We are honored to announce that the sixth annual Carol Troxell Reader is Dwight Garner.

In his memoir The Upstairs Delicatessen: On Eating, Reading, Reading About Eating, and Eating While Reading, this beloved New York Times critic dishes up the joys of books and food. Garner’s inimitable voice fills a literary plate with portions of his life, pairing food with recollection in an extraordinary buffet of words.

The Carol Troxell Reader honors the memory of Carol Troxell, thirty-year owner of New Dominion Bookshop, by celebrating voracious reading. Each year, the Festival selects one author to be featured as the Carol Troxell Reader. Special thanks to New Dominion Bookshop, the Carol Troxell Fund, and its donors.
