Threads of Legacy

Saturday, March 22 from 4:00pm to 5:00pm

Poets Luisa A. Igloria, Jennifer Chang, and Leona Sevick will read from and discuss their recent work.

This in-person event is a part of the 2025 Virginia Festival of the Book and will take place at the shop.

Join poets Luisa A. Igloria, Jennifer Chang, and Leona Sevick as they delve into the diasporic experiences and the transformative forces of love and loss. In Caulbearer, Igloria uses the metaphor of the caul—a talisman of protection and luck—to illuminate the spaces of transition, nostalgia, and the search for belonging. In An Authentic Life, Chang examines the impact of family and generational trauma in her meditative third book. In The Bamboo Wife, Sevick examines the imperfect roles we inherit, portraying a mother grappling with the weight of familial expectations and confronting intergenerational trauma. Together, Igloria, Chang, and Sevick offer a rich, resonant exploration of AAPI experiences, weaving emotional landscapes of history, family, and identity into their striking poetry.
