Ties that Bind Virginia Festival of the Book

Friday, March 21 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm

David Wright Faladé and Rebecca Kauffman will discuss their recent novels.

This in-person event is a part of the 2025 Virginia Festival of the Book and will take place at the shop.

David Wright Faladé and Rebecca Kauffman take readers on a journey through the emotional and political landscapes of their characters in this insightful panel discussion. In The New Internationals, Faladé introduces a tumultuous post-WWII Paris. We meet two young women, one Jewish and one French-Senegalese, and two young men, a West African aspiring student and an African American GI, as their personal desires collide against political upheaval. Kauffman’s I’ll Come to You, described as “intimate, wise and funny…a true gem about life’s changing seasons” by People Magazine, is a multi-narrative and multi-generational novel in which stories of familial challenges converge. Both authors illuminate the intersections of our innermost lives and historical moments, revealing how these forces shape our identities in the face of adversity.
