UVA MFA and Alumni Reading

Friday, March 20 from 6:00pm to 7:30pm

UVA creative writing alumni will read from their recent books.

This in-person event is a part of the 2026 Virginia Festival of the Book and will take place at the shop.

Come hear four alumni from UVA’s renowned creative writing program read from their recent poetry books.

Josh Dugat’s Great and Small draws from Psalm 104, the landscapes of Texas and Alabama, and the vast cosmic world. Max McDonough’s Python with a Dog Inside It follows two gay brothers in a chaotic household, in a story of survival and redemption. Lindsay Stuart Hill’s World of Dew lyricizes pain, grief, sorrow, nature, and cultural intricacies. Grounded on Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall, Shade Is a Place by MaKshya Tolbert is a paean to walking, reflection, and looking both within and without.
