Join us for a short concert with the Virginia Gentlemen, who will be singing songs from their holiday repertoire. This event will be free and open to the public.
Best known for their professional performances in the signature “bow-tie-and-blazer” attire, The Virginia Gentlemen is the oldest a cappella group on Grounds at UVA. They were founded in 1953 as part of the Glee Club, but in 1987 broke off to become an entirely student run organization. Every year, they perform both locally and internationally. In the US, they have performed for audiences including PBS, the White House, the US Embassy in London, Nationals Stadium, Crystal and Viking Cruises, and UVA’s recent Bicentennial Celebration. When they aren’t on stage, they pride themselves on helping out in their community, often performing benefit concerts for philanthropic organizations, such as Relay for Life, Pancakes for Parkinson’s, and Madison House.
